Each year we try to reduce the environmental impact of the event. It’s been a challenge but here is our progress this year:
Santa Suits: Since 2021 we offer an eco option allowing entrants to provide/reuse their own santa costume (subject to our dress code and festive theme) which avoids charging for the santa suit. Last year 30% of adults entering choose this option.
Medals: Our new commemorative medals for 2025 are made from re-cycled zinc and the ribbons from re-cycled polyester (rPET) – all supplied by the lovely people at Running Imp.
Water: We are looking into removing single use plastic bottles from the event replacing with water in pre-filled compostable cardboard cups ready to collect at the end of the run in Minster Yard. To be confirmed once we have sorted the practicalities.
Dogs: We love to see your canine companions in their festive gear at the Lincoln Santa Fun Run. But you must make sure you clean up any mess (failure to do so may result in dogs being banned in future years). We will have a dog station, manned by Lincoln Guide Dogs, in Minster Yard where you can pick up free dog poo bags before or after the event.
You can help too: (i) if you can please car share or use public transport (this will also lessen the impact of the event on local residents) (ii) take any rubbish away with you to dispose of it properly (iii) if you have one of our santa suits please dispose of it properly or event better if you can, consider keep it to use with an eco-entry place next year.
