Personal Donations

Definitions

  • “Event” the any event organised by The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia which includes fundraising activities. This includes activities before and after the actual run on the day.
  • “Organiser Charity” The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia (Registered Charity Number 1140234) and any party appointed by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia to manage the event on their behalf.
  • “Customer” any person or party purchasing entry tickets for the event
  • “Participant” any person provided with an individual runner number for the event or a parent/guardian/responsible adult acting for the person
  • “Donor” the person making a donation either directly to the organiser or through participant sponsorship
  • “Partner Charity” any charity (or other non-profit organisation) which the organiser has agreed to support as partner charity for the event. All partner charities are listed on the event website.

Donations

Individuals may make a financial donation to the Organiser Charity by either

(i) Using the donation links on this website

(ii) Giving funds directly to the Organiser Charity including cash, contactless, cheque and bank transfer

(iii) Using other donation routes, including text donations, as published on this website or on published materials by the Organiser Charity

(iv) Raising funds as part of an event organised by the Organiser Charity using either the printed sponsorship form(s) supplied by the Organiser Charity or the online sponsorship services provided by third parties for the event and published on this website.

The Organiser Charity, The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia is registered with the Charities Commission for England & Wales – Charity Number 1140234. Details of the Organiser Charity and how it raises and uses funds can be found our the website (www.coloniarotary.co.uk) and on the Charities Commission website (https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/).

Unless published otherwise (on this website or printed materials) donations will be disbursed to charities and good causes in accordance with our declared Charitable Objects and at the sole discretion of the Organiser Charity. If you wish to make a donation for a specific purpose or to support a specific beneficiary please contact the Organiser Charity first.

Donations may be processed by an authorised third party as published on this website eg PayPal, Givey. These third parties may levy a percentage transaction fee. These will be declared on the third party’s website when processing your donation. These parties will also have additional terms and conditions relevant to their services which are available on their websites.

Other registered charities may, by prior agreement and depending on the event, raise funds directly through personal donations or sponsorship. The donor is responsible for collecting and transferring such funds to those charities. The Organiser Charity has no responsibility for the collection, transfer, management (including claiming Gift Aid from HMRC) or the use of these funds. The Organiser Charity reserves the right to restrict fundraising at any of its organised events to the charities selected by the Organiser Charity.

The Organiser Charity may collect funds for other specified charities for example when a customer on placing an order selects the Partner Charity to support and also makes a donation. The Organiser Charity will process any applicable gift aid claim on the donation and will after the event has closed transfer the donation (with any applicable gift aid) to the Partner Charity. The Organiser Charity will share with the Partner Charity the Donor‘s contact details (name and email address) and the amount of any donation made by the donor to the Partner Charity.

Donations to the Organiser Charity are non-refundable. Under charity law, charities are not permitted to refund donations, other than in specific circumstances.

If a donor has ticked the Gift Aid box they are consenting to the Organiser Charity claiming Gift Aid from HMRC and that they agree to the following “I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations it is my responsibility to pay any difference.”

Donations, including sponsorship donations, are held by the Organiser Charity Trust Fund for the sole purpose of making grants and donations to charities and good causes in accordance with the Organiser Charity‘s Charitable Objects. A list of charities and good causes helped by the Organiser Charity can be found on the Organiser Charity website (www.coloniarotary.co.uk).

Your Information

By making a personal donation you consent to the personal information you provide being held and processed electronically by the Organiser Charity. As a data controller the Organiser Charity will always hold your information securely and will not pass it on to any other party other than (i) HMRC for the purposes of charity gift aid claims (ii) an authorised third party appointed to process payments eg PayPal, SumUp. The Organiser Charity will not pass personal information onto any of the charities to which donations or award grants are made without your explicit consent.

If you are participating in an event organised by the Organiser Charity you should also refer to the terms and conditions for that event.
